      This catalog printed relatively early in the dry plate era contains Scovill's and American Optical's amateur models, of which there are only three: Scovill Ne Plus Ultra, American Optical Apparatus Outfit (otherwise known as The 76 Camera), and American Optical Tourist Pocket Outfit.  The catalog is identical to the 1883 catalog of C.H. Codman & Co.

      Following the catalog images is a photograph of Edward Livingston Wilson, c.1881, the Wilson in Wilson, Hood & Co.  Wilson was a photographer, author, and publisher of one of the first photographic periodicals in the United States, The Philadelphia Photographer.
