Unknown Field Camera
12, manufactured

Date Introduced: - ;
Years Manufactured: c.
1900
Construction: front focus via
push-pull, no gears,
single swing;
reversible via removable back
Materials: mahogany box and base, black fabric bellows; brass
hardware
Sizes Offered: 5x7" (photos
above);
Notes: This camera looks
superficially like a leather-covered compact camera, such as a Century that has
had its leather removed. However, this camera has never had any leather on
it. From the box joints and other construction details,
this would seem to be a manufactured camera. The spring back indicates an
origin in the USA. The front swing mechanism is unlike popular
manufacturer's, who usually employed a drop-bed for that purpose..
