Darlot View Lens (single achromat) Variation 1 (pillbox),  c. 1880's

Catalogue No. 7, T.F. Indermill, (St. Joseph, MO), 1 Oct 1885, p. 88

Notes:

The Darlot View Lens is a typical single achromatic lens, in that the maximum aperture useful for photography is considerably smaller than the diameter of the glass - hence the rather small fixed aperture.  This configuration gives such lenses the nickname of pillbox.  Smaller apertures are inserted from the front and held in place by a metal ring.  The metal lens cover also inserts from the front.  The Anthony E.A. View Lens Variation 1 and the Darlot View Lens Variation 1 are identical in form.
