Photographic Materials and Apparatus
This is about the last Eastman Dry Plate & Film Co. catalog - printed just prior to the name change to The Eastman Co. in 1889. The only camera in the catalog is the Eastman Interchangable View. The catalog also features the Eureka Ground Glass Adjuster, a unique design which allows the simple use of either double plate holders as well as being able to be hinged down or even removed to allow an Eastman-Walker Roll Film Holder (of which the Model 1887 version is also advertised in the catalog) to be installed. An Eastman Interchangable View with a Eureka Ground Glass Adjuster for a back was sometimes referred to outside of Eastman catalogs as The Eastman Eureka View Camera. It was never, to my knowledge, called that in a catalog, causing researchers such as I no end of consternation wondering what a Eureka Camera would look like. References such as this catalog finally pointed to the answer. I call the Eastman Interchangable View with original-type back Eastman Interchangable View Camera Variation 1 and I call the one with the Eureka Back Eastman Interchangable View Camera Variation 2. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
