The Queen Camera

This camera is extremely close in design and appearance to the Scovill Mfg. Co. Albion (so close that I put its reference under Albion until I noticed that the Queen reference was one year before the Albion appeared in Scovill catalogs).

Queen & Co. Photographic Material, James W. Queen & Co. (Philadelphia, PA), p.83

Date Introduced: - ; Years Manufactured: c. 1886 - c.1889
Construction: telescoping bed focus via rack and pinion (gear tracks hidden); single front and probably single back swing but could be double; reversing by removable back
Materials: mahogany body; mahogany bed; black fabric bellows; brass hardware
Sizes Offered: 6½x8½
Notes:  This English-style field camera looks superficially identical to the Scovill Mfg. Co. Albion - even the canvas case looks the same - identical enough that the reference below sat the the Albion page for over three years, until I noticed that the 1887 Scovill catalog lacks the Albion, and it doesn't make sense that Queen & Co., even if re-selling a Scovill product, would bring it out before Scovill.  But there are some differences, e.g., the sheet metal connecting the front standard to the platform, and the use of English-style plate holder and a hinged ground glass frame instead of Anthony holders that slide under a spring-loaded ground glass frame.
