5x8

Date Introduced: - ; Years Manufactured:
c.1898-1906
Construction: front focus via
rack and pinion (two gear tracks on top of base rails) and
rear focus via push-pull; double swing; reverse by
removable back; three-piece lensboard
Materials: mahogany body; cherry base track; black fabric
bellows; brass hardware
Sizes Offered: 5x7; 5x8; 6½x8½; 8x10; 11x14; 14x17
Notes: The front standard
focuses by rack and pinion; the rear standard slides in the middle groove,
tightened by a lever - two
different types of focus similar to the Gennert
Brighton, the American Optical
Manifold, and the Smith Magic View/Sunart
Photo (probably Seneca-made) Vici. There is a Long Focus Clifton
model, which, while having the two types of focus and an identical front standard
to this model, has rear standard hardware more reminiscent of a Century camera
than an Anthony.
